What does it mean to proclaim Jesus as Lord?

May 19, 2019 Sermon Preview

Are you smarter than a third grader?

Prove it.

Answer this: What does it mean to proclaim Jesus as Lord?

Our baptismal students can answer this question. Can you? In the fourth sermon in our summer series we look at what it means for Jesus to be Lord of our lives.

Scripture

“And so, in honor of the name of Jesus, all beings in heaven, on earth, and in the world will fall on their knees and all will openly proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11)

Fourth Sweet Truth

Lord: the word Lord means, “our leader, teacher, and authority.” “Authority” means someone who knows a lot about something or someone who is the “boss.”

The New Testament of the Bible tells us that Jesus is our authority, because he knows about who God really is and he shares those truths with us. He is the authority in our lives because he is the Son of God–our Leader and our Teacher. When we believe in Jesus, we commit to following him always, as our Lord.
