Spirituality and existentialism

Where were you when the world stopped turning?

Today is the 19th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. Alan Jackson’s song, “Where were you?” quotes 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest is love.”

This kind of selfless love was seen in the first responders who sacrificed everything to save the lives of others and in the solidarity and mutual support that came in the wake of the attacks. Today we give thanks for those who gave of their own lives and pray for those they left behind.
