“God spoke all these words.” (Exodus 20:1)

God made an eternal covenant with the people. That covenant sustained them through slavery, the wilderness, and exile. The ten commandments were God’s guidance on how the people should live into that covenant.

As Christians, we have been grafted into that same covenant. Jesus echoed the ethical implications of the ten commandments when he told his disciples that they were to love God and love their neighbors.
