Blogtober Writing Challenge: Hilarious
A delightful timed addition to the family
This has been one of the most difficult seasons of my life. During this time, one of the most reliable mood enhancers has been the tiny rescue kitten who joined our family this spring. Her joyous presence has been utterly life changing.
Layla was less than four weeks old when she was abandoned at the home of one of my wife’s students. The student knew we had lost a cat at Christmas and offered her to us. She was not yet weaned so we bottle fed her until she was ready for solid food. Unfortunately, she also brought a bad case of ringworm with her from the farm. She had to endure weekly medicated baths and isolation on the back porch, but was a fairly good sport considering what she was going through.
Eventually her condition cleared up and she was able to move inside . She grew more and more comfortable with her new surroundings and took relaxation to an an awe inspiring level.
It did not take long for Layla’s personality to emerge. She has definite opinions and is not afraid to express them. She is one of the most playful cats we have ever had. Particularly hilarious is her special fondness our dish drying mat. No matter where we hide it, she always finds it and pulls it out. Apparently it is quite the comfy place to sit.
The level of humor, comfort, and joy she has brought to our family is hard to express. For Layla’s joyous personality and perfectly timed arrival I am SOFNGR8FL.
