“Take, this is my body.” (Mark 14:22)

Mark 14:12-16 reminds us that Jesus celebrated the Passover meal with his disciples. Passover commemorates the Jewish people’s liberation from slavery in Egypt. It teaches them who they are and how they relate to God.

Likewise, Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper in Mark 14:22-25 to teach his followers who we are and what his sacrifice means for us. Tonight we celebrate that meal and proclaim our hope in his forgiveness.
